Abstract

The project examines how the technological upheaval of introducing AI to the legal discipline challenges fundamental
assumptions about legal doctrine and cognition. The project brings together an expert team of five core fellows and three
affiliated researchers with diverse backgrounds and the necessary expertise to address whether, on contemporary
accounts, AI-tools lack the prerequisite understanding or capacity for normative cognition. This task lies in the intersection
of legal philosophy, legal doctrinal method, legal cognition, and ethics. The project provides a platform for concentrated
interdisciplinary research, and lays the groundwork for further research under the auspices of the RCN and ERC.
