NordIAS Visiting Fellowship

The NordIAS Visiting Fellowship Programme is an exchange opportunity for fellows at NordIAS member institutes, designed to increase collaborations among the institutes and affiliated fellows.

The programme was established with the aims to strengthen academic dialogue and networking through short exchanges of one to three weeks, benefiting both participating fellows and the participating institutes.

Who may apply?

Fellows at all the eight NordIAS institutes are welcome to apply for a visiting fellowship at one of the other institutes. In order to apply, you must have an active fellowship at the home institute at the time of the desired visit.

NordIAS member institutes:

What does the fellowship cover?

As a NordIAS exchange fellow your home institute will cover travel costs and accommodation for the visit. The receiving institute will provide an office space for the duration of the visit and will include the visiting fellow in all relevant academic and social activities.

It is expected that the visiting fellow will actively participate in the activities at the receiving institute during the fellowship.

Application process:

The call for the fellowship is announced once a year, in late autumn.

Applications are assessed in two steps.

  1. Following the application deadline, the home institute decides which applicants they will support on an outgoing visiting fellowship. These applications are sent to the receiving institute.
  2. The receiving institute(s) will decide which applicants they will receive on a visiting fellowship (this will largely depend on the academic match, timeframe and of available space at the receiving institute).
