This open seminar is hosted by the Young CAS project "Mixing by Interfaces: How Does Water Infiltration Control Mixing and Reaction in Soils?". The talk is given by affiliated researcher Kristian Stølevik Olsen, Postdoc at Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf.

Abstract

Stochastic resetting refers to processes where a systems state at random times undergoes large jumps back to its initial state. Over the past decade, much attention has been given to resetting within the non-equilibrium statistical physics community, with particular focus on the modelling of extreme events, as well as foraging and search strategies. Here we give a brief overview of developments and recent trends, and discuss potential application.
