Abstract:

In our lunch seminar, we will present an introduction to the Faroese ballad tradition and our field of research. Our project focusses on one particular cycle of ballads about the Germanic dragon slayer Sigurðr fáfnisbani (Sjúrður in the Faroese tradition), and we will discuss the publications from the project, including a translation of the ballads about Sjúrður and an edited collection featuring the results of our research stay.
