Here you can find an overview of the different calls for applications announced by the Centre. Please note that some opportunities are available by invitation only, and some are aimed only at researchers affiliated with our partner institutions.

CAS Research Grant 

The CAS Research Grant (CRG) is the Centre’s funding opportunity for established researchers. Recipients of a CRG can invite scholars from all around the world, at any stage of their academic career, to participate in their project during a one-year stay at CAS.

All faculty members who hold permanent, full-time, tenured academic positions at CAS’ partner institutions can apply.

Young CAS Grant

The Young CAS Grant (YCG) is a collaborative initiative between CAS and the Young Academy of Norway (AYF), with support from The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (DNVA). Recipients of a YCG receive funding and support for their research project and gain valuable experience in organising multiple workshops and a two-month research stay at the Centre.

Scholars under the age of 40 who have completed a PhD and are employed in full-time positions at one of our partner institutions can apply.

Open Calls

 

Constructive Advanced Thinking

The CAT programme supports research groups consisting of three to five individuals, headed by an early-career researcher of any discipline, and possibly including PhD students, for a duration up to three years. In order to enable them to engage in conversations and develop their ideas further, the groups are invited to meet for short stays (i.e. maximum two weeks) at participating institutes, where they also get the opportunity to get in contact with the fellows in residence at the institutes as well as local research communities.

CAS Alumni Fellowship

CAS aims to support researchers who have previously led projects at the centre by helping them further develop their ideas and projects.

Hernes-CAS Mobility Grant

The grant is aimed at researchers who are or have been PIs in our CAS Research Grant (CRG) or Young CAS Grant (YCG) programme during the last four years. This unique opportunity offers a five-month fully-funded research residency at either The Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS) in Uppsala or The Paris Institute for Advanced Study (Paris-IAS). The grant is developed in collaboration with Gudmund Hernes and will be generously supported by the Hernes Foundation.

NordIAS Visiting Fellowship

The NordIAS Visiting Fellowship Programme is an exchange opportunity for current fellows at NordIAS member institutes, designed to increase collaborations among the institutes and affiliated fellows.
